1. Diverse Training in Research Methodology
The master’s and doctoral programs emphasize rigorous and diverse research training, integrating both quantitative and qualitative approaches. Quantitative methods include experimental design, analysis of variance, multiple regression, multivariate analysis, time-series modeling, and structural equation modeling. Qualitative methods cover philosophical analysis, case studies, action research, interviews, grounded theory, and life history research. Students progress through structured coursework with practical application, while thesis supervision highlights logical reasoning and appropriate methodological application.

2. Scholarly Publication and Academic Community Engagement
Graduate students are strongly encouraged to publish their research. Qualification examinations may be completed not only through written tests but also through peer-reviewed and publicly presented works. To enhance academic exchange, the department hosts annual conferences and publishes scholarly journals. Examples include international and national conferences on innovative research, alternative schooling, early childhood safety, character education, digital learning, library innovation, and compulsory education policy. Students also benefit from self-organized communities such as study groups and online forums that cultivate independent inquiry and critical engagement.

The department also supports the Journal of Education and Psychology, one of Taiwan’s leading TSSCI-indexed journals, published quarterly. This platform provides opportunities for researchers, experts, and scholars to share rigorous academic findings in education and psychology.

Mission and Goals of the Master’s Program
The master’s program is research-oriented, aiming to train scholars in education and to develop “research-oriented teachers” with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills. It seeks to cultivate educators and administrators with humanistic values and professional expertise. Its core goals are:

  1. Mastery of educational knowledge and skills.
  2. Development of independent research and critical thinking.
  3. Expansion of international perspectives and diverse educational views.

Mission and Goals of the Doctoral Program
The doctoral program is designed to prepare advanced scholars who can contribute innovatively to educational research and practice. It offers two concentrations: Educational Administration and Educational Psychology and Counseling. Its objectives are to:

  1. Cultivate research talent in educational administration, psychology, and counseling.
  2. Prepare mid- to high-level leaders in educational administration.
  3. Train professional counselors and guidance specialists.
  4. Foster research-oriented teachers for secondary education.

Core Competencies for Graduate Students
Across all fields of specialization, the graduate programs aim to nurture independent researchers with sharp insight into educational issues and strong methodological expertise. Specifically, students are expected to:

  1. Acquire both breadth and depth in a specific domain of educational research.
  2. Apply appropriate quantitative or qualitative methods to analyze diverse forms of data.
  3. Actively participate in national and international conferences and publish scholarly papers.
